That’s right, make no mistake about it. This is probably one of the most shared things we’ve seen on Reddit and other forums alike, but you might’ve missed it. So here we are;

You’ve got an old garage door, it can be opened via a button, but you want it to be smarter, yet don’t want to change everything around with some crazy Wi-Fi setup and what not, so whatd’ya do?

SwitchBot Bot. Yeah I said it, SwitchBot Bot. But why? Well, SwitchBot Bot works using a Bluetooth connection, so you get a pretty decent amount of battery life out of it (which is approximately 600 days if you’re using it twice a day, when in a 25 degrees Celsius environment). It’s also long range, offering a radius coverage of up to 260ft, and that’s not all. It’s super easy to install when using the adhesive provided and takes just seconds to get started!

Bluetooth not enough? Try SwitchBot Hub Mini and control it remotely.

If you’re looking to control your garage door when you’re out, or coming back from a longer journey and need your door opened sooner, so if you’re looking to control your Bot outside of Bluetooth range, SwitchBot Hub Mini is probably what you’re going to need.

Use Alexa, Siri, Google Home, and more.

Hub Mini also allows you to use third party voice assistant services like Alexa, or Siri. Which means you can even command your SwitchBot Bot whilst your in the car using simple voice commands.

That’s awesome, but I want to know when my garage door opens too!

Ok, so controlling remotely, voice commands, still not enough? Well it doesn’t end there. If you want to know the ins and outs of your garage door, I’d recommend also having a look at SwitchBot Contact Sensor. Using this, you’ll be able to know when your garage door is opened, or even if it’s been left open by mistake, and receive notifications to remind you that it needs closing. You can also check historical logs, which is great for those of you looking for a little bit more peace of mind when it comes to your car, home, and well… Home life in general.

Make it automatic.

You can even automate this process, but using Contact Sensor, SwitchBot Bot, and SwitchBot Hub Mini together and set scenarios, so for example: should your garage door be opened for more than 10 minutes, Contact Sensor will communicate with Hub Mini and tell it to command SwitchBot Bot to press your garage door button, thus closing your garage door, kinda cool right? Well, it’s that simple!

As well as this, you can also integrate SwitchBot Bot with HomeBridge, for those of you that are looking to get involved with this, you can take a little look here (be warned, not for the faint hearted).
