It’s been four weeks since SwitchBot officially announced full support for Home Assistant. During this time, we’ve received a lot of feedback and suggestions from users on platforms like Reddit and Twitter.

After reviewing everyone’s feedback, we’ve put together this guide to address some of your most common questions:

What It Means for SwitchBot to Fully Support Home Assistant

What’s different now?

  • We’ve officially joined the Home Assistant Partnership Program and are now recognized as an official partner.
  • Certified products will receive a “Works with Home Assistant” badge. Certification is ongoing and the final rollout will depend on mutual scheduling.
  • For new products, SwitchBot’s team will be involved in direct integration, meaning faster support.

What if my device can’t connect?

To quickly get help from our customer support team, open the SwitchBot app and follow these steps to submit a new ticket:
  • SwitchBot App > Profile > Support > Feedback > Create a New Ticket

The Official Integration Guide

We now offer three connection methods for integrating SwitchBot with Home Assistant: BLE, Cloud, and Matter. Choose the one that best suits your needs. With just a few simple steps, you can set up local integration between SwitchBot and HA. Let’s walk through each method.

BLE Integration

  1. Get the MAC address of the device you want to connect to HA.
    • Go to SwitchBot App > Your Device > Settings > Device Info.
    • Note the last 4 digits of the MAC address. For example, in this image, the code is: AC1A.
  1. In HA, go to the main page > top left icon > Settings > Devices & Services
  1. Search for “SwitchBot” and select it. You’ll see our available products.
    • If there are too many devices, search by name (e.g., “Lock Pro”). Match the last 4 digits of the MAC to confirm it’s the one.
  1. Once you’ve identified your device, click Add.
    • We recommend connecting via your SwitchBot account. Using manual key input is also fine.
    • Enter your SwitchBot credentials and click Submit.
  1. After validation, your device will be successfully added to HA.

Cloud Integration

  1. In HA, go to Settings > Devices & Services
  1. Search “SwitchBot” > Scroll to bottom > Click SwitchBot Cloud
  1. You’ll be asked to enter your API credentials.
    • To get them: SwitchBot App > Profile > Settings > About > Tap software version 10 times > Developer Options
    • Enter the details and submit to complete Cloud integration.
  1. Note: Cloud integration adds all devices under your account.
    • If you only want to connect specific ones, BLE may be a better option.

Matter Integration

  1. In HA, go to Settings > Devices & Services
  1. Click Add Integration > Add Matter device
  1. On the Matter page, select based on your setup.
    • Check if your device supports Matter Over Wi-Fi.
    • For example, robot vacuums and air purifiers usually do. If not, you’ll need a Hub as a bridge.
For more details, refer to: https://us.switch-bot.com/pages/home-assistant. In our case, we’ve already connected the device to Apple Home via Hub 2, so we’ll choose the second option.
  1. Select Apple Home (or the Matter supported ecosystem you use), locate your device’s setup code, enter it, and submit.
  1. Once added, your device will appear in the main dashboard for control.
