At the end of May we launched the world’s first retrofit smart lock with 3D structured light facial recognition, the SwitchBot Lock Ultra Vision. From traditional keys, smartphones, and fingerprint unlocking to now simply walking up and unlocking with your face, SwitchBot has always been exploring more natural ways to enter your home. Starting today, your SwitchBot Lock Ultra is getting another exciting upgrade: it now officially supports Home Assistant.

Lock Ultra Now Works with Home Assistant via Bluetooth

When we first launched the SwitchBot Lock Ultra, it was already compatible with Home Assistant through the SwitchBot Matter Hub.

However, many of our users expressed a strong desire to connect the Lock Ultra to Home Assistant directly via Bluetooth without needing a Matter compatible Hub.

As of Home Assistant’s June 11 release, SwitchBot Lock Ultra now officially supports Bluetooth and Matter integration with Home Assistant.

Here are the features currently supported via Bluetooth:

In addition to locking and unlocking your door, you can now monitor door status in real-time to check whether it’s open or closed.

More Exclusive Lock Ultra Features Are on the Way

Many households across Europe use Night Latch-style door locks — a setup we know is especially common among our users in the region. In this Home Assistant update, we’ve added improved support specifically for this type of lock.

Lock Pro and Lock Ultra users can refer to our instructional video for a quick and easy setup.

SwitchBot Lock Ultra now works with Home Assistant via both the SwitchBot Matter Hub and Bluetooth. Looking ahead, we’re planning to introduce Cloud-based integration in a future update, expected to arrive in July.
