Smart homes, not just the kind of thing you might see in Disney Epcot’s tomorrowland, but devices that really help make home life more convenient and comfortable. But what about people that aren’t so familiar with high-tech devices, and might feel daunted when it comes to facing devices they’ve never used before? Well don’t worry, this article will show you how to teach them how to use smart devices, so that the whole family can enjoy the convenience that a smart home can bring.
Home Sharing
If you’re looking to share your devices with someone who is already comfortable with using a smartphone, they can control SwitchBot devices via their phone by using the Home Sharing feature. It’s super simple and only takes three steps to complete.
- Download our app (via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store) and create an account.
- Send an invitation to someone you want to share your devices with via your account.
- After users accept the invitation, they will be able to control and manage your SwitchBot devices through their own SwitchBot app.
Please note: shared users can control the devices normally or perform manual scenarios, but can not set the product’s functions or create new scenarios themselves.
Not using a smartphone? Don't worry, we've got you.
If the person you’re looking to share your devices with at home is not accustomed to using a smartphone, or our app to control our devices, then hear us out. There are still three ways for them to easily experience SwitchBot smart products without using a smartphone.
Control devices using your voice.
It‘s easy to control our products via voice commands when using SwitchBot Hub 2 or Hub Mini, combined with third-party voice assistants you can do things like:
Use Blind Tilt when used with Curtain Rod 2, Hub 2/Hub Mini, and Alexa: “Alexa, open the blinds.”
Make the most of SwitchBot Bot/Plug Mini and connect them to SwitchBot Hub 2/Hub Mini with Alexa: to use voice commands such as “Alexa, turn on the lights.”
Or even use SwitchBot Hub 2/Hub Mini directly with Alexa to control IR devices, “Alexa, turn on the TV.”

Use SwitchBot Remote to keep that traditional feel, but still keep things smart.
If you have people at home that are more accustomed to using a wall switch to turn on the lights, or using a remote control to switch on and off the curtains then we’ve still got something that you’ll love. SwitchBot Remote can be paired with Curtain and Blind Tilt to enable you to remotely control curtains, SwitchBot Bot or even Plug Mini to remotely switch lights or other electrical appliances on/off with just a tap (or even start smart scenes!).

If you want to use your SwitchBot Remote to switch on/off multiple devices with just a tap, you can use Hub 2 or Hub Mini to do so by using the Scene function.

What about SwitchBot for dummies? (Hey! Wait a minute...)
There’s also a ton of other great ways to use our products for those that aren’t so into using smartphones.

Simply pull in the direction you want to open or close your curtains and SwitchBot Curtain will do the rest of the work for you.
SwitchBot Blind Tilt
You can still control blinds manually, and Blind Tilt will auto-sync your device status via our app.
