If you want to avoid data being deleted or edited by accident, and you want to protect your privacy. In response to such requests, SwitchBot app version 9.0 is now available! The home-sharing function has become much easier to use, and the above problems can be easily solved.
What's new in app version 9.0? 💡
- You can now set the permissions for each home member (management and operation of devices, creation of scenes, etc.) in detail.
- Improved account management function to improve account security.
- The top screen has been redesigned, so you can see the air quality, temperature, humidity, lighting status and weather in your home at a glance.
- Updated gateway management function. You can now easily remotely control your home IoT devices even when you’re away from home.
New home sharing and account management features.
Permissions can now be set for each home member!
Want to share device access permissions with home members, but worried that they might see camera data? I’m sure many of you have had this problem. With this update, you can now set access permissions for each home member.
In addition to Owners and Members, two new roles have been added: Administrator and Member (Limited Permissions).
- Administrator: Can view, operate, and edit all devices, scenes, automation, and home permissions, as well as home management.
- Member (Limited Permissions): Can view and operate devices with permission, and edit basic settings.
How to use
Step 1: Navigate to Manage Home > Select the home you want to edit permissions for > Tap the “+” icon next to the Home Member.
Step 2: Select the permissions you want (Administrator, Member, or Limited Member) > Tap Next and select the device you want to share > Tap Next and invite members by manually entering their SwitchBot account email address or using the invitation QR code.
Account management for increased security.
Two-step authentication.
When you turn on two-step authentication, you will need your password and a security code sent to your email when logging in to your account. If you register the device you always log into as a trusted device, you can log in without two-step authentication.
Third-party accounts.
You can now link third-party accounts for log-in.
Email addresses are now easier!
It’s now easier to change your registered email address.
See the air quality in your room at a glance.
In addition to temperature, humidity, and lighting conditions, the top of the home screen now also displays air quality (requires related products such as a CO2 sensor or air purifier). You can now view the CO2 concentration and PM2.5 status in your home.
There's now no need to manually turn on the cloud.
Devices that communicate via Bluetooth previously had to manually turn on the cloud and link to a Hub device to be controlled remotely, but with version 9.0, Bluetooth devices that are registered to your account and belong to the same home can automatically detect the nearest hub with the fastest communication speed, link to it, and control it remotely from the app. This makes it possible to control devices more conveniently.
- From the Manage Hubs section, you can check Bluetooth devices that belong to the same Home near a Hub registered to your account.
